In the following" pages we take pleasure in showing our friends what the little workshop started by Jakob Kern 150 years aga has grown into.
Much has changed since then. The modest shop having developed into a sizable industrial undertaking, automatie machine tools have replaced the original simple tools, and new materials, and processes have superseded the old ones outgrown meanwhile.
Nonetheless, there are things that have outlasted these 150 years. Direct descendants of the founder are still at the head of the business; Aarau has remained the company's domicile; surveying and drawing instruments, upon which Jakob Kern had already based the international reputation of his enterprise, are still the two most important lines of the manufacturing program.
